Recently I started a project on SourceForge to help anyone port/compile/build OSS (Open Source Software) packages from sites or projects such as GNU, or sourceforge. Most of the time the installable "buildaix" will suffice. However, sometimes some customization is needed - such as for Apache projects apr, apr-util and httpd.

For projects where buildaix does not work directly you can use the mkinstallp as a template - or, just get ./configure to finish (you have a Makefile) and run buildaix.

Keep me posted.
