Previously I could just update OpenSSL and go further - but that is not always the case now. openssh.base.*.6.0.0.6103 do not work with openssl.base.1.0.2.1000.

root@x065:[/]lslpp -L | grep openss
  openssh.base.client     6.0.0.6103    C     F    Open Secure Shell Commands
  openssh.base.server     6.0.0.6103    C     F    Open Secure Shell Server
  openssl.base            1.0.2.1000    C     F    Open Secure Socket Layer
  openssl.license         1.0.2.1000    C     F    Open Secure Socket License
root@x065:[/]startsrc -s sshd
0513-059 The sshd Subsystem has been started. Subsystem PID is 295110.
root@x065:[/]lssrc -s sshd
Subsystem         Group            PID          Status
 sshd             ssh                           inoperative

For OpenSSL

- go to IBM's site for WebPacks. You need an IBMid. Goto: https://www-01.ibm.com/marketing/iwm/iwm/web/reg/pick.do?source=aixbp&lang=en_US and download openssl-1.0.2.1100 or later.

For OpenSSH

- there are multiple choices

  • Go to the same site as for OpenSSL and download OpenSSH. You have two choices there: the 'legacy' OpenSSH (based on features of OpenSSH-6.0p1 - OpenSSH_6.0.0.6204.tar.Z) or a more recent flavor of OpenSSH features (based on OpenSSH-7.1p1 - OpenSSH_7.1.102.1100.tar.Z). The key difference between the two is the default ciphers used. "Legacy" default ciphers are CBC based while the more recent (since OpenSSH-6.7p1) are not.
  • Go to my AIXTOOLS site and get the most recent version of OpenSSH (OpenSSH-7.5p1). Also installp format, and like the IBM versions - dependent on openssl-1.0.2.1100.tar.Z. See http://www.aixtools.net/index.php/openssh
