Ganglia on AIX - puff puff!

Ganglia on AIX is something I have seen at many customers, but I never seemed to have the time to get the files, and install it.

After seeing a couple of old presentations, reading on democentral, etc. about how simple it was to get Ganglia installed on AIX I tought I was just making excuses - so get to to it. Seems it has grown in complexity to get it installed - or long-live RPM dependancies.

To get started I ended up downloading, well, lets just say too many .rpm packages - I lost count at about 150. But I do have ganglia gmond and gmetad (plus AAP - AIX Apache PHP (no MYSQL needed for ganglia, but we use AAMP on rootvg.net)) running in a partition (LPAR) and gmond in a system WPAR. My goal is to have ganglia running in a WPAR so I can have it running on my POWER4 system - because that is on almost all the time, while the POWER5 systems are off most of the time.

I want to get it more or less scripted - regardless of standalone (who has those anymore?) , partition (LPAR), or "local copy WPAR" (i.e. a WPAR with it's own copy of /usr and /opt.

Indicate your interest for me making the package available as a single download by giving a USER RATING to this BLOG entry.
